It’s the right time of the season to start stringing together Ws and the San Diego Padres are doing just that, taking their 4th straight game and crushing a divisional foe to boot.
Terry Kennedy went 4-for-5 with a home run (4th) and double, leading a 13-hit attack for the Friars in an 8-5 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Rick Camp (L 2-3) was just awful for the Braves, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits and 8 walks in 5.1 innings of work.
Tim Lollar (W 6-3) wasn’t exactly stellar either, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings of work, but San Diego had more than enough offense.
The Braves are now 3 games back in the NL West, falling to 4th place.
These two teams still have another pair of games left in the four-game series, so Atlanta will have a chance to pull back close to the lead.
Following the series, the Padres will play their final 8 games against NL East opponents – St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Montreal.
