ALCS Game 2: Tigers Up 1-0 In 1st

Just as in Game 1 of this series, the Detroit Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Kansas City Royals in the top of the 1st inning.

Whether or not they can add on to that and – more importantly – hold the lead is yet to be determined.

After Kansas City starting pitcher Bud Black retired the first two Detroit batters, Kirk Gibson singled, moved to third on a Lance Parrish double, then scored on an RBI single by Darrell Evans.

Parrish was tagged out at the plate on a violent collision with Royals catcher Don Slaught, who caught a relay throw from second baseball Frank White coming in from right fielder Pat Sheridan.

Headed to the bottom of the 1st, Detroit leads 1-0, trying to even this series up.
